Mr Boateng was speaking on, "Development of Education, The Role of Stakeholders and Teachers", during the second quadrennial delegates conference of the Kwabre District branch of the Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT) at Mamponteng on Monday.

He expressed the need for the establishment of well- equipped teacher resource centres in the districts to enable teachers to upgrade their teaching skills.

"We cannot talk of any meaningful and sustainable change in our society without the teacher, the fulcrum around whom the whole educational reform evolve," he said.

Alhaji Yeboah called on the communities to embark on self-help projects to improve on the living standards of teachers. Nana Twie Adjei Baffour, Ashanti Regional GNAT Secretary, urged the teachers to strive to upgrade themselves by taking advantage of the distance learning programme.
