Nkoranza (B/A) Dec. 31, GNA - Mr. Kwabena Agyemang-Badu, Nkoranza District Director of Education has urged Moslem parents to take advantage of the Government's capitation grant scheme and enroll their wards in schools.
Mr. Agyemang-Badu was addressing a section of the Moslem community at Kransieso a suburb of Nkoranza on Friday during which period the parents discussed the establishment of a Day Care Centre in the area towards the education of the young ones.
He explained to the people that under the fee free education programme, parents were only to provide their wards with basic school needs such as school uniform, stationery materials and foot wear and to ensure that they always also attended classes.
He announced that the Government has also put into place some assistance for the needy children in the communities and that such children also receive school uniform, school bags and stationery materials to enhance their education.
Mr. Agyemang-Badu stressed the need for the parents to feed their wards properly in the homes before they go to school in order that they would remain in the school and attend to the lessons from their teachers.
Mr. Agyemang-Badu pleaded with them to visit the schools to interact with teachers and help them in addressing problems that face their wards and the children would improve upon their performance. Miss Sarah Oforiwah, Assembly Woman of the area announced that the former MP of Nkoranza, Mr. Hayford Francis Amoako, during his period donated some building materials to the Zongo Community towards the day care project.
The materials include 20 bags of cement and two bundles of roofing sheets.
She appealed to the assembly to help support the people with 100 bags of cement and four bundles roofing sheets to enable them to successful carry out the project. She stressed the need for the people of the area to offer active communal labour in the execution of the project and to complete it on time to enhance the development of the Nkoranza Zongo Community.
