Topease (E/R), Apr. 10, GNA - Madam Rosina B. Otchere, Headmistress of the Methodist Basic Schools (A and B) at Topease in the West Akim District of the Eastern Region, on Thursday urged students to learn hard to ensure that investments being made in their education by their parents and government did not become a waste. She also asked them to use their time judiciously, to enable them achieve their educational goals.
The Headmistress was addressing the closing session of the second term in 2007/08 academic years at Topease. She expressed regret that parents did not visit their children at the school to know of their progress in class. Madam Otchere remarked: "Reporting late to school, would have adverse effect on your academic performance". She assured them that, "God willing, we shall move into a modern classroom next term and that, we have to leave behind the lukewarm attitude to learning and march into that facility with fresh thinking cap".
The Headmistress commended both the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund), Sponsors, and M/s Sam and Connie Limited, the Contractor, for the construction of six classrooms, office and store (1 No. BS 1-6 Project) now at the roofing level. When completed, the facility would replace a dilapidated wooden structure catering for one of the streams. It would also offer an ideal place for teaching and learning, and also increase the pupils' intake. She commended Nana Ansah Kwadwo, Mankrado of Topease for his immense contribution towards the development of the school and quoted him as always stressing that: "The road to development is the development of the road".
