Educationist complains about lack of qualified teachers

Twifo-Praso (C/R), Sept. 17, GNA- The Twifo-Hemang-lower-Denkyira District Director of Education, Ms Regina Longdon, on Tuesday complained about a situation where 590 of the 1,230 teachers in the area are pupil teachers.

She said the situation does not create the desired atmosphere for improved educational standards in the district. She therefore appealed to the Ghana Education Service (GES) to ensure that more qualified teachers are posted to the area.

Ms Longdon was speaking at the closing session the second district Science clinic at Twifo-Praso in the Central Region.

There were 60 participants in the weeklong clinic, which aimed at encouraging more school children to opt for science and mathematics and other science related subjects.
