Agona Swedru (C/R), March 8, GNA - Captain Nkrabea Effah Darteh (Rtd), Deputy Minister of Local Government and Rural Development, has called on the youth to surrender their lives to God so that they would not go wayward.

He said by so doing, the youth would never suffer any defeat in their lives since they have not forgotten their creator.

Capt Effah Darteh gave the advice when he addressed the congregation of the Agona Swedru branch of Bethel Presbyterian Church of Ghana as part of his three-day working visit to the District.

The Deputy Minister who is also a member of the Presbyterian Church asked the youth to have absolute faith in God to stand up against social evils and related issues like the HIV/AIDS pandemic. Capt Effah Darteh said it is better to worship God than to roam the world full of temptations, adding that, "God is not a lorry spare tyre where the driver can use in time of need but rather God is an engine of life".

"God knows his children and he will defend them in time of difficulties, since God is every where" the Deputy Minister said. The Reverend Enoch K. Obuobi, Minister in charge, urged Christians to pray for President J. A. Kufuor, Vice President Alhaji Aliu Mahama, Ministers of State, Parliamentarians and District Chief Executives for God's divine protection, peace and stability in the country. He prayed for the "healing of the economy" and for a successful general election in December this year.
