The Effutu Municipal Assembly on Friday presented 520 dual desks, tables and chairs valued at GH?47,000.00 to the Municipal Education Directorate for distribution to needy schools.
Nii Ephraim, Municipal Chief Executive for the area, making the presentation on behalf of the Assembly, said the item bought from part of the Assembly’s share of the Common Fund was as part of the Better Ghana Agenda by President John Atta Mills’s government to promote education.
He said government is committed to providing the necessary infrastructures, textbooks and other logistics to schools to enhance teaching and learning.
Nii Ephraim stressed the need for teachers and other stakeholders in education to contribute their quota to supplement government efforts to achieve quality education standard in the country.
He urged the directorate to ensure that authorities of the beneficiary take good care of the items to prolong their life span.
He used the occasion to advise the teachers to counsel their children against allowing themselves to be used by politicians to create confusion during and after the forth coming general election in December to avoid being prosecuted.
Madam Elizabeth Enimel, Effutu Municipal Director of Education, receiving the items expressed her gratitude to the Assembly for their continued support to schools in the area.
She gave the assurance that items will be distributed to needy schools to help improve academic work.**
