Effutu MP supports UEW Administration Block project

Winneba (C/R), Sept. 23, GNA - Mr Samuel Kofi

Owusu-Agyei, Minister of Public Sector Reform, on

Friday presented a cheque for 50,000,000 cedis to the

authorities of the University of Education, Winneba, as

his personal contribution towards the rehabilitation of

the Administrative Block of the Home Economics

Department of the University. Dr Jonathan Armah, Dean, Faculty of Science

Education, and Dr Adelina Effie Arkhurst, Head of the

Department of Home Economics (D H E), both of the

University, jointly received the gift on behalf of the

institution. Dr Armah represented the Registrar of the

University, while Dr Arkhurst also stood in for her

Department at the presentation ceremony attended

by the District Chief Executive for

Awutu-Effutu-Senya, Mr Solomon Kwashie

Abbam-Quaye. Speaking at the function, Mr. Owusu-Agyei said

the gesture was in fulfilment of a promise he made to

the Authorities of the University during a visit to the

Home Economics Department early this year. The Minister reiterated the NPP government's

desire to provide adequate and better structures for

the country's tertiary institutions to make teaching and

learning in these schools conducive. Mr Owusu-Agyei who is also the Member of

Parliament for Effutu, appealed to workers in the

various sectors to exercise restraint in all their dealings

with the government, assuring them that the NPP

administration would fulfil the promises it had made to

them. Dr Armah expressed his gratitude to Mr

Owusu-Agyei and assured him that the money would

be utilized to improve the poor state of the Home

Economics Administrative Block.
