Eighteen injured in accident

Buduatta (C/R), Nov 8, GNA - A minibus on Monday run into a ditch at Gomoa Buduatta Junction on the Accra-Winneba road injuring all the 18 passengers on board. The driver, Adams Amadu escaped unhurt.

All of the injured were rushed to the Winneba Government Hospital with three of them, including the mate, whose names were not given, who were trapped when the vehicle fell on them in critical condition with fractures on the head, arms and legs.

The driver, speaking to the Ghana News Agency at the accident scene that he was traveling from Accra to Mankessim when one of the rear tyres blasted.

He said that he applied the brake but lost control and the vehicle somersaulted and ran into the ditch. He said some of the passengers fell off from the vehicle, which trapped them. Amadu, who was assisted by volunteers to gather the luggage of the passengers, which were scattered on the road for safe keeping at a nearby Beer/Chop Bar, said information had been sent to the Awutu Bereku Police.

Some of the wares of the traders worth millions of cedis were destroyed. 08 Nov 05
