The Eighth Edition of the Festival of Ideas to be held on Thursday, August 14, has been launched in Accra.

Festival of Ideas is the flagship corporate event of Legacy and Legacy and is recognised as Ghana’s most prestigious business conference, bringing together business heads, top corporate executives and professionals from all sectors for insightful presentations, corporate training, brainstorming and networking.

Mr Albert Ocran, Lead Consult at Legacy and Legacy, said this year’s conference on the theme; “Strategic Repositioning," would have two sessions, namely a breakfast and training seminar with four options on Strategy, Finance, Marketing and Public Partnerships.

He said the evening session would be an exclusive dinner for chief executive officers, corporate heads and public officials dubbed; “A Night With Great Minds,” where they would be brainstorming on how businesses would be repositioned strategically, especially when there were general economic challenges around the world.

Dr Vikram Mansharamani, Guest Speaker and Lecturer at the Yale University, suggested that although the current economic challenges that Ghanaian businesses were facing may be daunting, with the right strategy, companies could turn things around.

“If business leaders will equip themselves with the relevant tools and constantly update their strategies and focus on the long term, their organisations will remain profitable and sustainable,” he said.

Dr Mansharamani said disruptions and uncertainty were often a source of new opportunities and required a planning process that models scenarios and acts accordingly.

Other resource persons scheduled to speak are Professor Ian Shapiro also of Yale University, Dr Mensa Otabil, Professor Robert Hinson, Mr Charles Mensah, Mr Sangu Delle and the hosts, Albert Ocran and Comfort Ocran.

Dr Mansharamani has taught the extremely popular seminar “Financial Booms & Busts” and is also the author of BOOMBUSTOLOGY: Spotting Financial Bubbles Before They Burst.

He is a regular commentator in the financial and business media, having contributed to Bloomberg, MarketWatch, CNBC, Forbes, Fortune, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, The Atlantic, Yale Global, The South China Morning Post, The Korea Times, The Khaleej Times, Harvard Business Review, and The Daily Beast among others.
