Empower Playgrounds, Interact Club of Tema International School donate digital tools to Obosono D/A Basic School

In a groundbreaking collaboration, Empower Playgrounds and the Interact Club of Tema International School have joined forces to revolutionize education at Obosono D/A Basic School in the Akuapem South district of the Eastern Region.

The partnership has resulted in the donation of 10 equipped desktop computers and a Rachel Plus router, providing students with access to digital learning tools and resources.

Empower Playgrounds Inc., a non-profit organization founded in 2008, aims to improve education in Ghanaian communities.

Through their innovative playground systems, they generate electricity to charge LED lanterns and provide educational resources, empowering students to reach their full potential.

According to Isaac Darko-Mensah, Country Director of Empower Playgrounds, "The presentation of this learning equipment is aimed at providing quality education to the students and forms part of our responsibilities. We believe that every child deserves access to quality education, and we are committed to supporting students through educational programs."

The Rachel Plus router, a portable, battery-powered device, contains offline educational websites and can wirelessly deliver free digital content to nearby devices without internet or data plans. This innovative technology has the potential to bridge the gap in access to quality education in rural Ghana.

Mr. Darko-Mensah emphasized the need for strict conditions to ensure the successful usage of the equipment.

"We want to ensure that the equipment is used effectively and efficiently, so we will be exploring measures to ensure their durability and extend their lifespan," he said.

The Interact Club of Tema International School shared the same vision, with a representative saying, "This presentation aligns with our values of community development, and we are proud to support the educational journey of these students."

"We believe that education is the key to unlocking potential, and we are committed to supporting initiatives that promote quality education."

The teaching staff, proprietors, and students expressed their heartfelt gratitude to Empower Playgrounds and the Interact Club of Tema International School for their support.

The students eagerly expressed their enthusiasm for the new equipment, saying, "The equipment will encourage us to pursue and explore more in the field of technology. We call on entities, individuals, and the government to provide sustainable learning materials and equipment."

The donation held on Tuesday, June 4, 2024, was attended by officials from Empower Playgrounds, philanthropic ladies of the Tema International School Interact Club, and other dignitaries.

The innovative partnership and donation are expected to enhance the learning experience of the students and provide them with the necessary tools to succeed in their academic pursuits.
