Endorsement Of A Statement By The Queenmother Of New Juaben Traditional Arear By Traditional Council

The New Juaben Traditional Council has endorsed the statement by the Queenmother of the area, Nana Yaa Daani II which was brought before the Council.

The Council hailed the statement as described it as timely and crucial to the peace in the area. It endorsed the Queenmother’s statement especially the call on the security agencies to take the necessary follow-up action to ensure that peace continues to prevail in the New Juaben Traditional Area.

The Council noted that there is a clearly laid down procedure in the Chieftaincy Act 2008 (Act 759) for the destoolment of a Chief and that before a Chief can be destooled it is now compulsory for charges to be preferred against the Chief in the appropriate forum by those who are entitled to do so.

It noted that The Chief must then have the right of response to the charges. This must be followed by investigations into the destoolment charges conducted within the bounds of natural Justice before any actual customary process of destoolment is consummated.

In accordance with the Supreme Court ruling, It is only the majority of the kingmakers who can institute destoolment charges against an Omanhene.
