Entrepreneurs urged to set priorities to aid success

Mr James Asare-Adjei, President, Association of Ghana Industries has urged young entrepreneurs to be confident in themselves and set clear priorities that would allow them move their envisioned businesses forward in the face of harsh challenges.

He said building a formidable team among like-minded people and weaving their vision around their commitments as businesses and encouraging team work would make them very successful entrepreneurs.

Mr Asare-Adjei encouraged prospective entrepreneurs to keep thinking big, since the field of entrepreneurship is the hinge on which the economy and the country could grow.

He said this at the launch of a ground-breaking showcasing of Ghanaian Entrepreneurship, perseverance and excellence, an initiative aimed at telling the Ghanaian stories of successful entrepreneurs to encourage the spirit of enterprise in Ghana and inspire young people who aspire to be industrialists.

He noted that although the Ghanaian entrepreneur is fighting to devoir all odds to be successful, there are a number of challenges hindering their growth and thus called on government to support local businesses to enhance their plans.

He said as an association and entrepreneur in general, they have on many occasions advocated that deliberate policy initiatives and incentives by the government to support the local industry could deliver significant results if well planned and implemented.

Mr Asare-Adjei said the association is ready to support government in promoting interests that would see businesses in the country blossom for economic growth.

Mr Ramy Baiti, Head of Corporate Affairs, UT Group congratulated Stratcomm Africa for the initiative to boost entrepreneurial spirit among Ghanaians.

Mr Baiti, Chairman for the occasion said: “Our Story, Your Story,’’ campaign would offer a great platform to collectively share ‘’Made in Ghana’’ success stories to inspire the new generation.

He said although there are challenges in the entrepreneurial sector, there is the need for Ghanaian business owners to surmount odds and emerge multinational businesses capturing major market shares across Africa and beyond.

Ms Esther Cobbah, Chief Executive Officer, Stratcom Africa said, experience all over the world teaches that the creativity and determination of entrepreneurs are critical for bringing about improvement to the livelihood of society.

Ms Cobbah said Ghanaians must therefore aim to be a country in which entrepreneurship is respected and emulated.

She said this is in line with Stratcomm’s 20th anniversary to enrich entrepreneurs with humble beginnings to continue to strive to drive the global economy by realising their potentials.

She said the creativity and entrepreneurship skills of young people have encouraged great response so far as Ghanaian enterprises.
