Evacuate with immediate effect – KMA evicts occupants of Santasi-Ahodwo stretch

The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has issued an evacuation notice to car dealers, mechanic shops, taxi operators, squatters, structure owners and traders along the Santasi-Ahodwo road, directing them to leave the stretch with immediate effect.

In a release dated Wednesday, September 24, 2025, the KMA stated that the directive has become necessary for the planned construction of a dual carriage road from Santasi to Ahodwo.

According to the assembly, affected persons have until October 30, 2025, to evacuate or face forced eviction on November 1, 2025.

“The Management of the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) is informing the general public, especially car dealers, mechanic shops, taxi operators, squatters, temporary structure owners and other traders located along the Santasi-Ahodwo stretch of the road, to evacuate with immediate effect.

“All affected persons are required to vacate the area no later than October 30, 2025, to make way for the commencement of a major road construction project.

“This directive has become necessary since the Government of Ghana has secured a grant from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to construct a dual carriage road from Santasi to the Ahodwo roundabout to link the Asokwa Interchange.

“Effective November 1, 2025, the KMA will undertake a forced eviction of any individual, businesses or structures still occupying the designated stretch to ensure the smooth execution of the project,” the assembly said.
