Kumasi, July 5, GNA - The General overseer of the Mountain Movers Chapel (MMC), Evangelist Opoku Agyemang has attributed the growing incidence of indiscipline among the youth to songs with indecent lyrics.
He explained that music was meant to promote good conducts among members of society but not to erode moral values. He made the explanation in Kumasi at a seminar held to sensitise the youth of the church on their role towards the crusade against indiscipline in the society.
Evangelist Opoku expressed sadness over the apparent unconcerned attitude of some leaders on the indecent lifestyles of their subordinates. He said that the problem of indiscipline would reduce to the barest minimum if every leader considered it a duty to enhance discipline.
The Evangelist noted that most of the songs that had been composed in recent times were full of vulgar lyrics, which could only corrupt the listeners and lead them to indulge in immoral activities. He added that the video clips accompanying such songs were also unpleasant to the eyes since women virtually exposed their nakedness as they danced to the tunes. He emphasised that much as much as songs could impart a positive influence on listeners, they could equally change the mind-set of people and push them to violate societal norms. He therefore, called for the establishment of a body that could vet songs before their release into the public domain.
He hoped that such a measure would help reduce the influx of immoral songs. July 05 05
