Kumasi, March 23, GNA-Two months after his release from prison after serving a four-year jail term for stealing, Alidu Mohammed, 25, has been sent back to prison for defiling a 15-year-old pupil of the Nkoranza local authority primary school.
A Kumasi circuit court on Tuesday sentenced him to 10 years imprisonment in hard labour on his own plead of guilty to defilement. Police Chief Inspector Margaret Damalie told the court that at about 7 pm on January 24, this year, the victim arrived in Kumasi to look for her mother who resides at Aboabo Number Two, a suburb of Kumasi.
She said at the Aboabo station, the victim met Alidu who introduced himself as a driver at the station and was ready to send her to her destination free of charge.
Chief Inspector Damalie said the victim obliged but on their way to Aboabo Number Two, the accused diverted the route to Pankrono, also a suburb of Kumasi with the explanation that he wanted to see a friend. However, before they could reach Pankrono, the prosecution said, the accused stopped the vehicle near a kiosk, ordered the victim to come out at knife point and sexually abused her several times.
After the act, Alidu got back into the taxi cab he was driving and sped off leaving the victim to her fate and went into hiding but with the help of some people, she reported the case to the police who arrested Alidu at his hideout at Moshie Zongo at the weekend. 23 March 04
