Commuters and residents living at Kasoa and around western Accra are calling on government to expand the kasoa – Accra road to ease the traffic they experience every day on the stretch.
According to residents the traffic is negatively affecting their businesses, productivity and their family lives.
“My children leave their school at 4pm; yet we get home together at 7pm, how are they supposed to learn and play as children” said one parent who called into the Citi Breakfast Show.
Speaking on the Citi breakfast show on Monday, the residents also asked that the toll booth on the Kasoa road should also be removed since it also contribute to the traffic, they also asked the authorities in charge to construct alternative routes.
Commuters on the Accra-Kasoa road have complained about the apparent lack of action by authorities to solve the traffic situation on the road.
Some of the road users are calling on the Ministry of Transport to find a temporary solution to the problem.
Meanwhile, Alhaji Mohammed Alhassan, an urban planning expert said the stakeholder institutions are aware of the problem and are planning against it.
“We know this well enough; these are issues of investment. The Highway and roads agencies are planning against it. The solution is to expand the road or construct an overpass.”
Alhaji Alhassan further stated that there are certain challenges along the route ; the situation where the commercial buses or trotros park anywhere must be addressed, he mentioned.
