Farmer advocates subsidies for farming inputs

Kranka (B/A), Aug 22, GNA - Oheneba Kwaku Baffoe, a 38-year-old farmer at Kranka in Nkoranza District, has called on the government to subsidise agricultural inputs to help farmers to increase production. Oheneba Baffoe told the GNA that prices of inputs such as compound fertilizers and pesticides were so high that farmers were finding it very difficult to farm on large scale.

"As a result of the high cost of pesticides and fertilizer, farmers at Kranka are not able to expand their farms."

Oheneba Baffoe appealed to the government to arrange a stable price for food crops to enable farmers to derive maximum benefits from their toil.

"Children of cocoa farmers who cultivate on large scale must be considered for the award of scholarships," he said.
