Farmer dies in road accident

Kojokrom (B/A) June 13, GNA - Kofi Dwomo, a 33-year-old farmer died shortly on admission at the Holy Family Hospital in Techiman in Brong Ahafo after he and another person were run over by a taxi cab at Kojokrom, near Techiman.

The other person, Mr. Peter Yeboah, 30, also a farmer who sustained injuries is however responding to treatment at the hospital. Police Inspector John Badu in-charge of the accident squad told Ghana News Agency that the two were bagging tubers of cassava by the roadside at about 1700 hours on June 8 this year when the incident happened.

He said, the driver, Mark Ohene Asamoah, is said to have lost control of the steering wheel when the vehicle developed a fault and skidded off the road.

Inspector Badu added that Asamoah had been arrested and was assisting the police in their investigations. The body of the deceased has been released to the family after autopsy for burial, he said.
