Farmer donates to disabled centres

Offinso (Ash), Dec 24, GNA- A former National Best Farmer, Mr Thomas F. Asare, has presented 50 fowls, 10 crates of eggs, a bag of rice, six crates of soft drinks and a cash of one million cedis to the Offinso and Nkenkansu Training and Rehabilitation Centres for the Physically Disabled.

These were to be used to organise a Christmas party for the trainees at the two centres.

Presenting the items, Mr Asare, who is the Managing Director of Asare Farms, said Christmas is a period for sharing and that its essence of showing love, kindness and support for the needy, the poor, the sick and the socially disadvantaged.

Mr Barima Antwi, Field Director of the training centres, praised Mr Asare for his tremendous support and contribution to the cause of assisting the physically challenged to lead normal lives. For the past five years, he has consistently donated to the training centres every Christmas.

Besides, Mr Asare recently paid 14 million cedis to cover medical bills in respect of an orthopaedic operation on two of the disabled trainees.

Mr Antwi said they were grateful to him and appealed to churches, individuals and Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) to emulate him.
