Bibiani (W/R), Feb. 17, GNA - A circuit court at Bibiani has remanded Kwaku Yenam, a 54-year-old farmer, who allegedly mutilated the left hand of Ruth Nyarko, his wife, with a cutlass. Yenam, who pleaded not guilty, would re-appear before court on February 25, 2009.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Mr. Joseph Anneh, told the court presided over by Mr. Emmanuel Ankamah that the accused and his wife resided at Wassa Wuratrem in the Western Region.
DSP Anneh said that about a year ago, Yenem's wife left her matrimonial home to stay in a house close to Kwabena Afriyie, also a farmer, because there was misunderstanding between her and the husband. Prosecution said Yenam, who suspected that his wife was having sexual relationship with Afriyie, at about 0001 hour on November 3, last year, forcibly opened the door of Afriyie's room. DSP Anneh said when Yenam found his wife in Afriyie's room, he assaulted her and injured the hand with the weapon, resulting in the amputation of the hand.
Prosecution told the court that the accused reported himself to the Wassa Juaso Police.
