Akwaboah (C/R), March 24, GNA- Nana Kwaku Nyarko, National Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Cocoa, Coffee and Sheanut Farmers Association (GCCSFA) has advised farmers to take some time off their farm work to ensure that they and their dependants who have attained the voting age, get their names in the new voters register.

He told them that anything short of this would make them forfeit the right to participate in the election and choose people who could better represent their interest in government.

Nana Nyarko was addressing a forum held by farmers at Akwaboah near Dunkwa-On-Offin on Monday.

The forum was designed to provide a platform for the farmers to discuss ways of improving efficiency of the cocoa sector of the economy. Nana Nyarko told them that it was important for all to attach seriousness to the registration exercise and help to ensure its success.

He touched on the need for farmers to also take advantage of the attractive cocoa producer price paid by the government to maintain and expand their farms.

Nana Nyarko praised the Kufuor administration for the mass spraying exercise, saying, it has led to substantial increase in crop yield and returns to the farmers.
