A 22-year-old commercial motorcycle rider has been found dead at Nyame Bekyere, a farming community near Akoase in the Birim North District of the Eastern Region.

The incident reported by adomonline.com on May 25, 2026, indicated that the deceased, Eric Nyarko, popularly known as “Junior,” was allegedly killed while on his regular road trips as a rider.

"After several unsuccessful attempts to locate him, the family called his mobile phone, which was answered by an unknown person before the phone was later switched off," the deceased’s sister, Darkoa Grace, said.

Grace told the media that Eric left home for work but never returned.

The family later received information that the young rider had been murdered.

Residents and fellow riders say the killing has sparked fear among commercial riders in the area.

They claim this is not the first time such an attack has occurred at Nyame Bekyere, alleging that similar incidents have happened in the area before.

Family members and okada riders are urging the Ghana Police Service (GPS) to intensify their investigations and enhance security in the community.

They are calling on security agencies and local authorities to treat this issue with all the urgency it deserves to protect both residents and riders.
