Bonse (B/A) Oct. 22, GNA - Mr. James Kwabena Osei, Assemblyman for Forikrom in the Techiman Municipality has decried the deplorable state of the Fiaso-Bonse-Adja road.
He said the four-kilometre road which was awarded on contract in 2008 by the Department of Feeder Roads had been abandoned by the contractor. Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Bonse, Mr. Osei said the contract which was awarded to Bechim-Sepe construction firm by the Brong Ahafo Regional office of Feeder Roads had rather worsened the plight of local farmers.
He complained that the little construction works done by the contractor especially culverts served as death traps to the people in the area because the drainage system was shoddily constructed.
The Assembly Member said foodstuffs such as cassava, plantain, yams and maize were locked up on the farms due to the bad condition of the road as no vehicle was willing to ply on it.
"Three people including a pregnant woman got trapped in one of the unfinished gutters in the area", he said and called for immediate completion of the project to avoid future mishaps.
Mr. Osei asked the Techiman Municipal Assembly to facilitate transportation of man and foodstuff in the area.
