Fifty thousand school children in Mfantseman de-wormed

Saltpond (C/R), Aug. 8, GNA- The Mfantseman Area Development Programme of World Vision, Ghana (WVG), a non-governmental relief organisation, in collaboration with the Mfantseman District Directorate of Ghana Health Services, has de-wormed about 50,000 school children in the district.

The WVG provided funds while the health directorate made available personnel for the exercise.

Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Saltpond at the end of the two-week exercise, Mr George Bempah, District Disease Control Officer, who led the exercise described it as "highly successful". Mr Bempah commended the District Director of Education, Mr Isaac Bart Addison, the headteacher and teachers of the schools for their co-operation for the success of the exercise.

Dr Simpson Amim Boateng, District Director of Ghana Health Services, urged parents to de-worm their children regularly since worms caused anaemia and retarded growth and development of the child.
