The Finatrade Foundation has inducted five more under graduate Agricultural studies students of the University of Ghana (UG) into its 2015 tertiary scholarship scheme.

Mr John Awuni, Executive Director of the Foundation said it is necessary to support students who are brilliant but lack financial assistance to get smooth access towards their studies.

He said the students would have to come up with projects that are implementable for them to be supported.

Mr Awuni announced that the Foundation has decided to increase the annual number of five undergraduate scholars to 25 to encourage the students not to allow financial problems become obstacles towards achieving their dreams.

He noted that the undergraduates would receive GH? 800.00 each while the graduates received GH? 2,300.00 each.

Professor John Ofosu-Anim, Dean of the College of Basic and Applied Sciences, UG expressed the school’s gratitude to the Foundation for the immense support.

“We were very pleased to hear Mr Awuni talk about the plan to increase the number of students to be put on the scholarship, and we are most grateful for that,” he said.

He advised the students to take advantage of the opportunity given to them to study hard so as not to disappoint the Foundation and the Faculty.

Prof Ofosu-Anim said the support of the Foundation since 2003 had manifested in the performance of the scholars.

The Dean said the process of selecting the scholars was critically made through the entrance interviewing, making the background of the students who excelled in the studies clearly defined.

Finatrade is a business Foundation that imports and exports food products including rice and poultry.
