Fire has gutted the Assorko Essaman Catholic Primary School in the Shama District of the Western Region destroying school property valued at many thousands of cedis.
The fire, believed to have started around 21:00 hours on Tuesday could not be immediately traced to anything but burnt charcoal.
It took the personnel of the Ghana National fire Service from Shama and Daboase and other volunteers from the community to bring the fire under total control.
The charcoal is usually made by the pupils to raise funds for the school's forthcoming anniversary celebration.
Meanwhile, when the GNA visited the school at about 10:10 hours today the pupils were seen helping to clear the debris.
