First Lady donates computers to Alma mater

The First Lady, Mrs Lordina Mahama on Monday donated 100 rlg branded computers to the Ghana Senior High School in Tamale (GHANASCO) to assist the development of ICT in her Alma matter.

She also presented 250 pieces of exercise books and 17 jotters to the school. Both President John Dramani Mahama and the First Lady are past students of GHANASCO.

Mr. Moses Bukari Mabengba, Caretaker Northern Regional Minister who donated the items on behalf of the family said the items were supposed to be donated last year but due to the elections it was postponed.

The minister also made a personal cash donation of GHc1,500 to the school, out of which GHc1,000 was meant for the best mathematics students in the next speech and prize giving day while the remaining GHc500 was to motivate the school for emerging first in the just ended inter-schools athletics.

Mrs. Mary Asorbayire Dan-Braimah, Headmistress of GHANASCO on behalf of the school’s authorities commended the First Lady and acknowledged the role of government in promoting quality education in the country.

She said the school currently had a student population of 2,686, and that the computers would complement the existing 150 desk top computers in the school to enhance the effective learning of ICT.
