Nangodi (UE), April 29, GNA - Five royal families in the Nangodi constituency that had a recent chieftaincy contest in Nalerigu, have condemned in no uncertain terms, allegations made by the Azure Family of Nangodi questioning the credibility of the newly enskinned chief, Joseph Asaga from the Zuutbiih gate. The five families include the Zuutbiih, Issakabiih, Biyambiih, Daayidbiih and the Kpayabiih families of Nangodi of the Nabdam Constituency= , condemned a press conference by the Azure Family that challenged the credibility of the enskinment. Out of the six gates making the Nangodi constituency, the Azure Family is one. The five families, has therefore threw their unflinching support fo= r the new chief Joseph Asaga. A statement endorsed by the five gates on Thursday, said Chief Joseph Asaga's enskinment was not politically motivated and that it was a mere speculation without any proof.

"It is a fact that the enskinned chief is a brother of the Honorable Moses Asaga, Member of Parliament for Nabdam and member of the ruling NDC Government, but that does not mean that the government interfered politically.

"To think that the Nayire and his elders have been influenced politically shows your lack of confidence in the traditional system of government, which is insulated from political interference". Meanwhile, Mr Moses Asaga, MP for Nabdam, said the youth in the area confirmed that they had not been told the real history about the chieftainc= y institution in the area as was revealed by Naab Azure in the write up of Captain R. Rattray and published at the Clarendon press, Oxford 1932. He said though the parties, who lost would be aggrieved, he hoped they would come together to promote peace and unity in the area. The new chief has the skin name Mbalebna Yin alias 93Mbuganso" mean= ing =91I am not selective'
