Some 136 flood victims at Bosuso in Fanteakwa District in the Eastern Region are appealing to government for support in the provision of housing after the collapse of their homes. The victims comprise 55 children and 81 adults drawn from 3 communities namely Timily, Maaney and Charteh. Some of the victims has sine been seeking shelter at a nearby church while others are putting up with neighbours.

More than 14 houses, mostly made of clay, collapsed over the last weekend after the downpour which lasted for almost twenty –four (24) hours. Residents say three (3) rivers; Buso, Peto and Yaya all located within a two hundred meter radius overflowed its banks after the downpour, forcing the flood waters into their homes. There were, however, no casualties after the incident.

The victims most of whom are farmers, say they are struggling to make ends meet hence need support to be able to rebuild their homes.

Meanwhile, the Eastern Regional Minister Samuel Ofosu Ampofo and a team of NADMO officials have delivered food, clothing and mattresses to the flood victims. Samuel Ofosu Ampofo in an interview with Newsmen noted the need to remove silt and garbage in parts of the three rivers, and create some gutters within the communities to aid the free flow of water in a bid to reduce the extent of damage in such floods.
