Abuakwa (Ash), Sept 11, GNA - A number of residents of the Abuakwa Akosa New Site in the Atwima-Nwabiagya District of Ashanti suffered extensive damage to their property following persistent rains that flooded the Dwahyen River on Sunday.
There were no casualties but the extent of damage caused to property ran into millions of cedis.
Lieutenant Oduro Owusu (rtd), secretary of the Akosa New Site Landlords Association, who led other executive members and newsmen to inspect the situation, saw that some of the affected residents could neither come out of their houses nor enter due to the flooding. He said in some instances, some of the affected residents had to climb their fence walls to leave their houses or enter. The executives sympathized with the victims and appealed to the District Assembly and the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) to assist them.
