Kumasi Jan. 7, GNA - The Ghana National Flour Users Association on Thursday donated a number of items and cash totalling about 13 million cedis to the Kumasi Children's Home.
The items included seven bags of rice, two bags of sugar, a large quantity of perfumed washing powder, fruit drinks, boxes of bar key and apino soap, edible oil, biscuits, toilet rolls, loaves of bread, cake and cash of three million cedis.
Mrs Comfort Akotuah, President of the Association said it was their contribution towards the upkeep of children at the Home. She said the Association saw it as a social responsibility to be part of efforts at making life a bit comfortable for the needy and the disadvantaged in society.
Mrs Akotuah said it was for this reason that members had been regular visitors to hospitals and orphanages adding, "we would continue to share in the vision of bringing hope to children who neither by choice nor through any fault of theirs find themselves in this Home and several others in the country".
Miss Mabel Boamah, an Assistant Supervisor of the Home, expressed her gratitude to the Association for the support.
She appealed to public-spirited individuals and institutions to help provide the Home with a more reliable means of transport. Miss Boamah said the only vehicle at the place had become aged and weak, a situation that had resulted in huge maintenance cost and for that matter a big drain on its resources.
