Mr George Kumi, a former Ambassador to Libya, has appealed to people seeking to seek job opportunities in the North African country to stay home.

He said the war-ravaged country was in serious economic downturn with many migrants, including some Ghanaians, seeking international assistance to return to home.

Mr Kumi, who served under the Kufuor Administration, told the GNA in an interview that though Ghana’s economic situation was bad, other developed countries were going through similar economic crunches and urged the teeming unemployed youth to stay home and acquire skills.

He said technical and vocational education in the country was poor and appealed to the government and other stakeholders in education to put priority in technical education.

Mr Kumi, who was high commissioner to Nigeria, said Ghana could produce the needed human resource base for accelerated national development if enough resources were channel into technical and vocational institutions.
