Former Agona East Vice chairman laid to rest

Agona Kwanyako (C/R), June 11, GNA- The mortal remains of the former Vice Chairman of the Agona East Constituency of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) was at the weekend laid to rest at the Agona Kwanyako Presbyterian Cemetery.

The late Godfred Seth Asare, who was the Convener of the Social Services sub-committee of the Agona District Assembly and former headmaster of Nsaba Presbyterian Secondary School, died in April, this year at the age of 72.

He left behind a wife and four children.

Mr Ben Mensah, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Agona, Mr John Kwesi Agyabeng, Member of Parliament for Agona East and Nana Kojo Frempong Constituency Chairman of the NPP as well as party supporters led a high-powered delegation to the funeral.

In attendance were Directors of education, headmasters, Reverend Ministers of Presbyterian Church of Ghana and representatives from the Office of the Moderator of Presbyterian Church of Ghana. Reverend Newton Asare Akoto, Chairman of the Central Presbytery in a sermon urged Christians to live life worthy of emulation. He said all the good things people were saying about the Late G.S. Asare was because of the exemplary life he led while alive and urged the people especially Christians to lead good lives. Rev Asare Akoto called on Ghanaians to eschew hatred and enmity and rather pave a way for peace and stability, to promote the socio-economic growth of the nation.

The party members donated 2 million cedis and assorted drinks to the family of the late Mr. Asare. 11 June 07
