Former Dubai Consul General enskinned as Vittin - Lana

Alhaji Yukubu Abudulai, immediate past Consul General of Ghana to Dubai, was at the week-end enskinned as Chief of Vittin, (Vittin-Lana).

Vittin is a suburb of Tamale, which includes the Vittin Estates which was developed by the State Housing Corporation (SHC) in the 1980s.

The palace of the Gulkpe-Naa (Chief of Tamale), Abdulai Alhassan was filled to capacity with chiefs under his jurisdiction, government officials and sympathisers to witness the enskinment.

The occasion, heralded by drumming and dancing, horse and motor riding, was climaxed at the Vittin Palace.

The position became vacant after the demise of Vittin Lana Alhaji Abdul Rauf and Chief Abudulai IV, a member of the Kundung-Kurli family, one of four royal gates of Vittin, was unanimously selected and presented to the Gulkpe-Naa by the family for the enskinment.

The Gulkpe-Naa on January 24 served Alhaji Yakubu the traditional notice of enskinment for the position by giving him cola nuts for the “gown wearing” ceremony.

By accepting the Cola for the position, Chief Abudulai IV is bonded to shoulder his new responsibility and pledge to be available to the Gulkpe-Naa and the Yaa-Naa at all times.

Chief Abudulai IV pledged to bring unity and development to the area and Dagbon as a whole.

He said expressed appreciation to his family for selecting him for the position adding: “I will continually count on the support of the family at all times.”

Chief Abudulai IV graduated from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology with a B Sc Building Technology and studied Law at the University Of Ghana School Of Law, and was called to the Bar in 2000.

He worked as a Construction Engineer with the erstwhile State Construction Corporation for three years and lectured at the Kaduna Polytechnic in Nigeria.

Chief Abudulai IV also work as a Quantity Surveyor at the SHC and is the Managing Director and owner of MPC Limited.

He took a break from MPC Limited to serve as Ghana's Consul General to Dubai in 2011.

Vittin is one of the skins under the jurisdiction of the Gukpe-Naa which he cannot enskin without the approval of the Yaa-Naa, the King of Dagbon.
