Former Vice President Aliu Mahama commends National Chief Imam

Former Vice President, Alhaji Aliu Mahama has commended the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu for his positive initiative in supporting brilliant but needy Muslim students to achieve greater academic heights.

He said over the years the National Chief Imam had made numerous contributions towards the development of Muslims in the educational sector through his active support.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama was addressing Muslims at the weekend at a ceremony organized by the Chief Imam to honour Ameer Mudashiru Shitu Bulala, a prominent Nigerian Islamic scholar.

He said the Chief Imam in his initiatives had also been honouring great Muslims in the Islamic fraternity who promoted inter and intra-religious dialogue among Muslims.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama noted that the Chief Imam was respected for his contribution towards national development, adding that “From the top hierarchy of government both immediate past and present, all of us respect him.”

The Former Vice President said there was the need for Muslims in the country to rally strongly behind the National Chief Imam to achieve better results in everything that he initiates and asked Islamic scholars to emulate the National Chief Imam.

Alhaji Aliu Mahama appealed to the National Chief Imam to continue to do more in supporting and promoting of Islam and Muslims at large.

He presented a citation to Ameer Mudashiru for his contribution in the promotion and development of Islam in both Nigeria and Ghana.
