Aflao (V/R), July 20, GNA- Mrs. Christie Gbleke, a Senior Nursing Officer has called for health information on common ailments including malaria.
She noted that such information would assist people in the private sector of the economy to plan their health needs.
She made the call on Monday at a health forum organized at Aflao by AIDEZ Small Project International - Ghana (ASPI), a Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) for a group of vegetable farmers, fish mongers and traders at Aflao in the Volta Region.
Mrs Gbekle, who works with the St. Anthony Catholic Mission Hospital of Dzodze in the Ketu District, noted that such information including business advisory schemes could help the people to keep themselves healthy.
She educated the participants on the prevention and treatment of malaria, effects of unsafe sexual practices and drug abuse. The participants appealed to the government to subsidise the treated mosquito nets for all Ghanaians.
They were of the view that the current subsidy, which caters for only pregnant mothers, was not enough, explaining that the 95,000 cedis and 60,000 cedis for the large and medium sizes of the nets respectively were beyond the reach of many.
Mr. Moses Owharo, President of ASPI asked the group to take the health information seriously for them to live longer lives.
