Headmistress of the school, Alice Atariyem Abeliminge declined comment on the matter when reached by MyNewsGh.com reporters in view of the fact she had just been transferred to the institution.
A tutor of school who spoke to this portal on grounds of strict anonymity, revealed that the current number is lesser that what was recorded last year.
Our source indicated that teenage pregnancy in the Chiana township itself is said to be on the rise attributing the case of the school to a spillover to the conduct of sexuality active youth of the community.
Meanwhile, pregnancy involving final year students is not peculiar to female students of Chiana SHS with reports suggesting that other rural schools in the Upper East Region have recorded similar cases.
“Mostly, it is the day students who get pregnant. We have not had a single case of a boarding student in such a situation”, a source at the Ghana Education Service (GES) revealed.
