Kade(E/R), Oct. 12, GNA - The Professor and Mrs S.K.B Asante Educational Trust Fund has awarded scholarship to four students to pursue Senior Secondary School education.

The recipients, three boys and a girl were, Maxwell Kudjoe of Oda Secondary School, Felix Appiah of Asamankese Secondary School, Michael Nti of Akyem Swedru Secondary School and Rose Donkor of St Francis Secondary Technical School, Akyem Oda.

Sixteen students have so far benefited from the Fund established three years ago, for students in the Senior Secondary and tertiary institutions.

Mr Kwabena Korankye, Secretary of the Fund told newsmen at Kade on Monday that the awards covered boarding and lodging, textbooks, school uniforms and Parent-Teacher-Association levies. He said the Fund was established because there were many bright but needy students in the country who should be assisted to develop their academic talents to become useful citizens and make meaningful contribution to the development of their communities and the nation. The first six beneficiaries of the awards are now in their final year at the Senior Secondary School. In 2003, Prof. Asante, an international consultant and former United Nations Principal Regional Advisor and his wife Jane, set up the fund with seed capital of 200 million cedis to cater for the educational needs of bright but needy students in four communities within the Kwaebibirem District.

These are, Takrowase, Kusi, Akyem Wenchi and Soabe, his hometown.
