Friends of Malaysia call on High Commissioner

Executives of the Ghana Malaysian Friendship Association (GHAMAFA) on Thursday paid a courtesy call on the Malaysian High Commissioner to interact and sympathise with him following the two airplane tragedies that befell Malaysia in these last months.

Mr Joel E. Netty, President of GHAMAFA, said the visit also presented a platform to exchange ideas for the mutual benefit of both Ghana and Malaysia.

“This visit goes a long way to deepen the friendship and relationship that had existed over the years between Ghana and Malaysia in terms of developmental projects,” he said.

Mr Nettey said the two countries would continue to work collaboratively to create political, economic, and socio-cultural ties in order to enhance development.

He said Ghana had a unique platform of commencing bilateral relations with Malaysia that would help promote employment, security and better standards of living and called on stakeholders to take advantage of the friendship that existed between the two countries.

Mr Loon-Lai Cheong, Malaysian High Commissioner to Ghana, expressed satisfaction about the long standing cordial relationship and support system that had existed between the two countries.

He said this year, Malaysia's independence celebration would be on a low profile following the tragedies that befell the country in these last months.

He appealed to Ghana to assist the private sector and commended the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for its immense support in the day to day activities of helping to boost Ghana’s international relations.
