Traders at the Tudu market in Accra on Friday expressed worry about the rate at which prices of goods keep rising as a result of the fuel price increment across the country.
The Ghana News Agency (GNA) in an interaction with some traders during a survey it conducted at the Tudu market, observed that the increases in prices had affected almost all commodities.
Madam Amina Donkor, a trader who deals in flour and sugar said “ the price of half a bag of flour that used to sell at Ghc40 is now selling at Ghc45 and a bag of sugar from Ghc80 to Ghc82”.
Madam Adjoa Mensah a drink seller could not hide her grievance when she told the GNA about the plight of traders in the market center.
She recounted that a crate of soft minerals that was being sold at Ghc12 is now selling between Ghc16 and Ghc18.
Mr Francis Appiah, a jeans seller in an interaction with GNA said “retailers have increased the price of goods because of the high cost of transportation charges”.
Madam Elizabeth Mensah an underwear trader said “I buy a pack of pants for Ghc204 but just this week the price shot up to Ghc300 as a result of the fuel increase and it’s too much for us.”
