Datoko-Kuriboug (U/E), May 28, GNA - The people of Datoko-Kuriboug in the Talensi Nabdam District have asked the Upper East Regional Security Council (REGSEC) to protect them from the harassment of Fulani herdsmen. The residents complained that the herdsmen, who wielded guns, attacked them anytime they went to farm, raped their women and seized their bicycles, cooking utensils, farming implements and other properties.
Mrs Beatrice Borizina, Assembly Member for the area, said these at an emergency meeting held with the people, the chief of the area, Regent Bugrebil Sampambil and Samspon Fasena, the Unit Committee chairman of the area. She appealed to the REGSEC to act promptly to stop the Fulani herdsmen from threatening the lives of the people to enable them to undertake farming. Mrs Borizina said she would liaise with Nabdam District Assembly and non-governmental organisations to provide the people with potable water. He appealed to Government to upgrade the Datoko clinic, provide it with a maternity unit, and rehabilitate the road linking Sheaga and Tongo Central to facilitate economic activities.
