Atwea(Ash), April 2, GNA - The chief and people of Atwea near Nsuta in the Sekyere West Central of the Ashanti Region organized a fund-raising harvest in aid of their electrification project at Atwea at the weekend.
Mr Kwame Agyenim- Boateng, Assemblyman for the area, said the project which involved the provision of bulbs for the town's street light is estimated at over 1,000 Ghana cedis. He said the project is being funded through the contributions of Two Ghana cedis per female and Three Ghana cedis per male residents with non-resident citizens contributing Four Ghana cedis and Six Ghana cedis for both females and males respectively. The Assemblyman commended the Sekyere West District Assembly for providing Atwea, Adutwam and Abaasua with two boreholes with pumps each and Anwanya with three boreholes with pumps. Mr Kwame Osei Prempeh, Deputy Attorney General and Minister of Justice and Member of Parliament (MP) for Nsuta, Beposo and Kwamang, said the Nsuata-Oyoko road awarded on contract for rehabilitation would be completed before the end of the year. He praised the people in the town for their initiative and foresight in embarking on some projects to enhance their living conditions.
The Deputy Minister appealed to the people to rally behind the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government to ensure the provision of infrastructural facilities to improve their living conditions. Mr Haruna Oppong Boateng, District Chief Executive (DCE) for Sekyere West and acting DCE for Sekyere West Central, urged the people to pay their taxes to support the Assembly in its deliberation towards development of the area. He advised them to unite with love and understanding and avoid negative tendencies that would affect the growth and development of the Assembly.
Mr Kwabena Owusu, Chairman of the Unit Committee of the town appealed to the people to rekindle their communal spirit towards the face-lift of the area. Nana Kwasi Kwarteng, Chief of the town, who chaired the function, called on the Sekyere West Central District Assembly to provide the people with a clinic.
