As part of the avowed quest by the Deputy Northern Regional Minister, Honorable, Alhaji, A.B.A. Fuseini, in making ICT, more relevant and accessible to schools in Northern Ghana, Donated 40 pieces of Laptop Computers to Eight selected Schools within his Constituency.
The device which has a high propensity in making life more meaningful through teaching and learning in its usage, has been a curricular at the B.E.C.E, level in Ghana.
Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, who is also the Member of Parliament(MP) for Sagnarigu Constituency, sought to bridge the digital gap, equipped some selected schools with Laptop computers yesterday, in Tamale, in the Northern regional capital.
According to him the initiative was principally to give computer access to students, as much as practicable to schools under his constituency, there-by enhancing their teaching and learning in ICT.
He said it is his unwavering intention to ensure that every school going child within his constituency has access to computer and gained knowledge in the ICT.
The Deputy Regional Minister, emphasized that the gesture forms part of an on- going event which began last year by distributing laptops to schools such as Karmina JHS, Bawa Barracks JHS, and Hilalia JHS, all in his constituency.
Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, bemoaned that those in the Northern part of the country are under privilege as far as computer literacy was concerned and sit in the same exams with their counterparts in the southern sector, for which he implores his colleagues the duty bearers in the north to help addressed the issue.
He observed that the results of the computer exams in the B.E.C.E. as against student of the south are woefully poorer.
This according to him informed his intension to donate the Laptops to schools under his political jurisdiction.
Hon A.B.A. Fuseini used the opportunity to admonished parents in the region as a matter of prime concerned to invest massively towards their children education.
On his part The Headmaster of the Malshegu JHS Mr. Chrysantus Dabuo, commended Hon, Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini for that laudable gesture and was however, quick to appealed to him to renovate an uncompleted facility to be used for a computer centre, while promising that the laptops would be used for their intended purposes
The Computer Laptops were 40 Pieces valued with an estimated amount of GHC35, 000, 00 Distributed to Eight selected Schools in the Sagnarigu Constituency.
Meanwhile,The Donated Schools are catalogued as Kpalsi JHS, Yapalsi JHS, Kasalgu AME Zion JHS, Malshegu JHS, Garizegu JHS, Wurishe JHS, The Rest are jisonayili JHS, and Shishegu AME Zion JHS.
The Sagnarigu Constituency Executives who accompanied Alhaji A.B.A. Fuseini, were the constituency Chairman Alhaji Osman Zakaria, The secretary Mr. Muhamed Abdul Raham, The Deputy communication Officer, Mr. Alhassan Dogima, The rest were The Deputy Treasure, Mr. Abukari Jarugudoo and the Deputy Womens Organizer, Madam Haruna Rakia.
