GATTA mourns Ayim

Accra May 19, GNA - The Executives and members of the Ghana Association of Travel and Tourism (GATTA), on Friday mourned the late Ferdinand Ofori Ayim, who was the Special Assistant to the Minister of Tourism and Diaspora Relations.

Mr Kenneth Otchere, Executive Member of GATTA, addressing members at a meeting said the late Ayim was a colleague, a friend and an ardent supporter of the development and promotion of tourism industry. He said it was important for people especially those in the tourism industry to celebrate his achievements and support what he stood for. Mr Otchere said Mr Ayim was part of GATTA's "Golden Face of Ghana" project aimed at developing and promoting safe and responsible domestic and international tourism in Ghana, to be launched later this year.

He appealed to members to attend his funeral in their numbers. Mr Ayim, 46, died on April 6, in a motor accident on his way to Atibie to help prepare the site for the second Paragliding Festival. Mr Ayim would be buried on May 20 at Kyebi. He left behind a wife and four children. 19 May 06
