GES closes exhibition to mark UN/AU Public Service Day

The Ghana Education Service (GES) at the weekend asserted that it is offering a lot to the educational pursuit in the country, hence the need for public accolade and not condemnation.

Mr. Stephen Adu, Acting Deputy Director-General, GES, said this at the closing of a week-long exhibition organised by the Service to mark United Nations and African Union Public Service Day.

He expressed the belief that the exhibitions had helped showcase what GES, which is the biggest agency of the public service, had contributed to the development of the nation.

GES intend to make the exhibition that opened on Monday a yearly affair and to afford the public the opportunity to interact with officials and learn about policies and programmes of the service.

The day had been set aside by AU and UN to highlight activities, challenges and achievement of the public service.

Mr. Charles Parker-Allotey, Public Relations Officer, GES, said lots of meaningful suggestions were made by the public and other visitors during the show and the service intends to consider all to enrich the next exhibition which is expected to be hosted twice annually and to be replicated in the regions.

Mr. Emmanuel Essuman, a tutor at Achimota Senior High School who led some students of the school to the exhibition, described the show as very important since it showcased some policies which many teachers and students did not know about.

The Reverend Emmanuel Dadebo of the Teacher Education Division, GES, stressed on the need for serious advertisement of subsequent exhibitions to allow more members of Parent-teacher Associations, NGOs and other stakeholders to well patronise such event “so they could understand issues better”.**
