Begoro (E/R), Aug. 16, GNA - The Nkosuohene of the Fanteakwa Traditional Area, Bafour Antwi Boasiako, has commended the Ghana Education Service (GES) for the inclusion of culture in the school curriculum.
He was speaking at the closing of the ninth Eastern Regional Basic Schools Cultural Festival at Begoro on Friday.
Bafuor Antwi Bosiako observed that the neglect of some cultural practices had contributed to indiscipline in the society. He urged teachers to continue to instil discipline in pupils and students to enable them live better lives in future.
The East Akim District emerged champions in dance, drama and story telling while the West Akim district topped in choral music and drum language with the Akwapim South District winning the sight singing and poetry recitals and the trophy for the vocational/technical skills exhibition going to Akwapim North District.
Bafour Antwi Boasiako commended the outstanding districts and urged the other ones not to be discouraged but to improve their performance in subsequent festivals.
Certificates and prices were presented to the outstanding districts.
