The Ashanti Regional Education Office has presented a cheque for GH¢3,381.00 to support the medical treatment of Gloria Antwiwaa, a 10-year-old hole-in-heart pupil of the Asotwe Catholic Primary School in the Ejisu-Juaben Municipality.

This brings its total contribution to GH¢14,191.76.

The cost of surgery to correct her condition at the National Cardiothoracic Centre, Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, is put at €6,000.00.

Little Gloria underwent the first surgical operation in year 2010 and is scheduled to go for another in July.

Mr Kofi Sarfo Kantanka, the Regional Education Director, handing over the cheque at a ceremony, said the money was mobilized from teachers and pupils in seven district education offices, and the Catholic Education Unit.

He said they are touched by the plight of the girl and determined to do everything to assist her.

Mr P.K. Asuming, Ejisu-Juaben Municipal Deputy Education Director, thanked the teachers and pupils for their generous response.
