Cape Coast, July 20, GNA- Mr Samuel Oppong, official in-charge of Client Relations at the Computerized School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) secretariat, on Thursday called on regional and district directors of education to hold regular public education on the system to create more awareness.
He said with the CSSPS, the cut off point for qualification into senior secondary or technical schools was aggregate 30 for six subjects, comprising four core and two elective subjects and that candidates who got grade six in any of the subjects would not qualify for admission. Mr Oppong said this at a forum organized in Cape Coast for district directors of education, heads of senior and junior secondary schools, officials of the Ghana Education Service parents and JSS pupils in the Central Region.
It was organized by the CSSPS secretariat in conjunction with the Regional Directorate of Education and aimed at educating the public and all stakeholders on how the CSSPS operates.
He appealed to heads of the JSS to help stamp out examination malpractices in their schools, stressing that it was their responsibility to do so.
Mrs Justina Torjagbor, the Regional Director of Education, said the success of the CSSPS depended on all the stakeholders and appealed to all to play their roles to achieve results. Mr Emmanuel Mills, systems analyst from SISCO Limited, developers of the CSSPS software, said any candidate who selected a school outside the list of schools provided would be disqualified. 20 July 06
