Techiman, (B/A), Nov. 18, GNA - Mr Kwarkye Siaw, Techiman Municipal Deputy Director of Ghana Health Services has commended the Ghana Education Service for their role in combating the HIV/AIDS in the country.
He said, the fight against AIDS can not be done alone by the Ministry of Health, but by the collective efforts of all other ministries such as education and non-governmental organization's as well as the community, who should be recommended.
Mr Kwarkye Siaw said this in an interview the Ghana News Agency at Techiman.
He said the struggle for good health begins from the individual and asked parents to devote time for their children to teach them about HIV/AIDS.
He called for the education against unprotected pre-marital sex going on amongst the youth in the communities. He said, since the past 18 years, when the first case of AIDS was diagnosed in the country, more cases continued coming up and now globally, 40 million have been infected.
Mr Siaw called on the people to abstain from pre-marital and extra-marital sex and be faithful to their partners.
