Accra, Dec. 17, GNA - The Ghana Institute Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), on Thursday night presented certificates and awards to 79 of its workers, who retired this year for their meritorious service to the institution.
They were made up of 14 Court of Governors members, eight former Director Generals, 24 Faculty members, and 33 middle level and supporting staff.
Most of the employees had served the institution between 11 and 38 years.
The former Director Generals and Court of Governors members received one full piece of kente cloth each, while the faculty members and supporting staff got one full piece of wax print each. Nine women out of the 33 middle level and supporting staff were given two half pieces of wax prints.
Speaking at the ceremony, Professor Stephen Addei, Director General of GIMPA thanked the retirees for their selflessness and dedication to the transformation of the institution to its present status and said adequate care would be taken to ensure that the standards was sustained and improved upon.
Prof. Addei announced that a newly created Public Service College (PSC) dedicated to the training of civil and public servants would start from January 2005.
He said the facilities at GIMPA for the training of civil servants today were much better that before and added the institution was ready to work with the appropriate authorities to roll out training programmes for the leadership of the country especially for the top echelon of the Civil Service.
